Hand Drawn Vanda Flower Necklace

Hand Drawn Vanda Flower Necklace

What was your inspiration for your shop?
My inspirations comes from Henna & Mehndi art. I was drawing a lot of henna inspired designs during the time I began making jewelry, and my creations have been evolving ever since.

What’s your favorite shop item and why?
I love my paisleys. They’re fun. Its kind of like a flower, but non- committal. There is no tangible paisley in real life; it’s just a pattern that you can manipulate to your own style.

How do you unwind when you’re not creating?
Showers, music, cuddling with the pets.

What’s your favorite kind of cupcake?
I love margarita cupcakes!

Do you have a secret guilty pleasure?
McDonalds – maybe it’s the childhood memories, or maybe it’s the grease.

If money was no object and you can live wherever you want, where would that be?
Hawaii. I’d spend my time soaking up the sun, but the state is also cool because you can go skiing in parts of it!

How would you describe your work style?
Free-flowing, maybe even girly. I draw a lot of swirls and hearts and flowers that all intertwine with each other.

If you could choose any one super power, what would it be and why?
I would have the power to worry less.

What was the last movie you watched? Was it good?
Elder’s Game. It was a good concept…I will need to read the book though.

Have EternalGirlShop custom make you a ring!

If you knew what you know now, when you first opened your store, what would you do differently?
Nothing. I like how my store evolved and learning along the way. Besides, my store is only about a year and a half old, so it is still a baby, lol.

Featured Artist: J and S Knitts

Standard

Meet Jane and Sage of J and S Knitts in St. Joseph, MO.  Check out their cute loom knitted scarves in their shop and read more about them right here on PJEtsy.  (Questions answered by Jane)

How did you first get started on Etsy?
I had always talked about Etsy to my friends and my sister of course! I kept saying “I’m gonna make this and one day it’ll be on Etsy!”Then this year I decided to take the plunge! If I kept talking about it, it would never make it to Etsy so I just did it! I even drug my sister on this crazy ride!

What is your inspiration for your shop?
Yarn inspires me. I love going into a store to look at and to buy it! I love the fact that I can grab a ball or skein of yarn and create something out of it! Whatever I want! When we started J and S I wanted to be able to get our items to more people, to put smiles on their faces with our items! I feel that’s pretty amazing. And those people who have (or haven’t) heard of us they inspire me to create and to improve!

Cupcake Winter Scarf, Pink and Brown Scarf, Womans Knit Scarf, Winter Accessory, Knit Scarf, Thick Winter Scarf - Ready to Ship

What is your favorite item from your own shop and why?
I actually love everything I knit! There was the first scarf I did that was pink, black, and gray. I was going to show a picture! But it sold! Kind of a bittersweet moment when that happened! It went all the way to Wisconsin so I hope she liked it as much as I did!

How do you unwind when you’re not creating?
Spending time with my friends is important and family too! My sister and I go shopping or to the movies you know the basic stuff. We also have a girl’s night each week with my best friend where we can chill and be ourselves. If we’re not knitting we’re crafting in some way or another.

List 3 of your favorite Etsy shops.
Wow such a hard question! The artists on Etsy are super talented! It’s hard to choose just three! But I shall do my best!

www.etsy.com/shop/iheartneedlework – The hats she creates are so darn cute! And awe-inspiring!

www.etsy.com/shop/NovelCreations – Wow! I love every item in her store! I can see myself toting one of these awesome purses around! And someday I will! Can anyone say Christmas present?

www.etsy.com/shop/WordBaubles – Her jewelry brings a smile to my face. I have favorited several pieces, and I mean several! I can’t wait to purchase a few of these for myself or for gifts!!

How would you describe your work style?
That’s a hard one, for me I think of myself as a casual knitter. I do knit every day, and try to complete project as quick as I can. But then again some days you just want to put the loom and hook down and try something new!

If you could choose any one superhero power, what would it be and why?
This is a tough one; it says a lot about who you are I think. I personally would take anything Wolverine has to offer. The Regenerative healing factor does stand out in my mind because I always hurt myself in my day job more than most people. I know my sister Sage, would take Kitty Pride’s Intangibility or phasing. She has stated more than once that she love to move through objects at will.

If you knew then what you know now, what would you do differently in opening your shop?
I probably would have started my shop sooner than 2013. I should have grabbed the bull by the horns and just jumped in with both feet! All that time I wasted on talking about it I could have already been on this wonderful journey!

Meet Efrat Weisz of Efratul Designs on Etsy.  Check out her amazing accessories and read more about her work and inspiration right here on PJ Etsy:

How did you first get started on Etsy?

My Map zipper pouches include different wallets and bags with maps prints from different cities of the world.
The idea came to me during one of my courses of Industrial design studies.
The exercise was to create a fashionable item with the inspiration of the city of Tel Aviv. My first thought of Tel Aviv was how hard it is, like most big cities in the world, to find a parking space in it. This is when I created my first bag, a messenger bag, designed with the colors of white-blue-red, like the parking marks on the sidewalks that describe whether it’s prohibited to park (red and white) or you can park only with parking meter (blue and white). On the inside of the bag I added a print of the whole map of Tel Aviv, to help the one who seeks for a parking spot in Tel Aviv to get by around the streets.
After this first bag I realized the texture of the city map is too pretty to keep it inside the bag.
So I made a new bag with the entire Tel Aviv map on the outside. Then I developed more bags and wallets focusing on specific popular areas of Tel Aviv, and later on I created wallets with maps from all over the world – Jerusalem, New York, Paris, Amsterdam and more…
I also make custom map wallets and custom zipper pouches. This way you can order a wallet with any street of any city you choose. It can be where you live, where you travelled, or your favorite place in the world.

What is your inspiration for your shop?

My inspiration is my city – Tel Aviv. I love the urban feeling when you walk the streets, I love it at night since it’s never asleep, and I love it that you can always find a quiet place if you look for it…

Meet Efrat Weisz of Efratul Designs on Etsy.  Read about the inspiration for her amazing accessories right here on Promo Junkies of Etsy!

What is your favorite item from your own shop and why?

My favorite item is the Mondrian fold over clutch

Red Blue Yellow Fold over clutch - women hand bag printed with Geometric squares pattern on it with Black zipper

I really love it because it’s different from my Map products. It’s graphic and I made it because I wanted to make something for myself, something I would Love to use… and that’s what came out.

How do you unwind when you’re not creating?

Sometimes I wander on Etsy to get inspired from other designers, and sometimes I just need to clear my head by watching TV or taking a walk on the streets.

List 3 of your favorite Etsy shops.

www.etsy.com/shop/TheJoyofColor
www.etsy.com/shop/Alfamarama
www.etsy.com/shop/Mawusi

How would you describe your work style?

I can describe my work as very graphic. I’m a graphic designer, designing wedding albums and business cards and such and it affects my products too.

If you could choose any one superhero power, what would it be and why?

I will choose the power to stop time, or maybe just make it go slower… I always have many things to do and not enough time to do so…

If you knew then what you know now, what would you do differently in opening your shop?

What I would change earlier if I could is start designing products with different cities from all over the world instead of focusing on Israeli cities on my products like I did at the first year I had my shop. Now, slowly, I make new map designs with different cities of the world.

Featured Artist: JJLadells Woodcarving

Standard

Meet Brent and Holly of JJ Ladell’s Woodcarving shop on Etsy.  Read more about their works and process right here on PJ Etsy.

How did you first get started on Etsy?

We have been doing craft shows but had a friend’s daughter tell us about Etsy and show us how to set up a shop – she has a shop on Etsy also. It’swww.etsy.com/shop/AbishJewelryWorks?ref=teams_post

What is your inspiration for your shop?

Brent grew up on a farm, where is family raised chickens and he loved to watch their different personalities. He has always enjoyed working with wood and when he found a carving book and started he was hooked.

What is your favorite item from your own shop and why?
I love the whimsical carvings, there are so many and bring out Brent’s personality and it’s great when people come into our craft booth and just laugh and laugh. I wish the pictures did the items justice – it’s hard to present them in a great manner through pictures, but Brent has also created stories, that are sent with each item to tell the carving’s “story.” This carving is probably one of my favorites because it reminds me of Brent and I and our great marriage, I know kinda corny, but true.

Handcarved Whimsical Characters are in Love

How do you unwind when you’re not creating?

Creating is the way Brent unwinds. If he is getting “stressed” I try to get him to go carve – must be something about the wood smell.

List 3 of your favorite Etsy shops.
I’ve met so many wonderful people on Etsy – it’s hard to pick. I love working with the teams – and seeing all the wonderful items. But here are 3
This shop – reminds me of my childhood and brings back wonderful memories.
www.etsy.com/shop/toysofthepast?ref=pr_shop_more
This shop just makes me smile – the creativity is fantastic – we actually bought hats from her sister shop – same hats but for adults
www.etsy.com/shop/YumBaby
This shop has a special spot in my heart because Myrna is such a nice person, and has really reached out to me through the world of Etsy. It’s amazing how the world can become so small through Etsy.
www.etsy.com/shop/ShopOfCraftsByMyrna

How would you describe your work style?

I have hard time describing Brent’s work – its just an extension of her personality – from the great personalities of his Chicken carvings, to the humor of the whimsical carvings, to the creativing of the Fairy/Gnome homes – to the weirdness of his horses. It’s just him – countryfied – is that even a word? It is difinelty one of a kind.

If you could choose any one superhero power, what would it be and why?

Wow – that’s a hard question, Brent was injured last year that resulted in a very long year of 2 surgeries and he still has a lot of pain, it was so hard during the recovery when he couldn’t carve. Is there a injury proof power – maybe like ElasticaGirl (Incredibles) Able to stretch and bend without injury and bounce back into place.

If you knew then what you know now, what would you do differently in opening your shop?

I don’t think we’d do anything different, we were very fortunate to have Lori to walk us through the steps and give us all the in’s and out’s. We have actually started a 2nd shop – www.etsy.com/shop/Skidaddles101?ref=search_shop_redirect – and have patterned it after the way we set up JJ Ladell’s. We have recently had the opportunity to help a dear friend start her Etsy shop and can’t wait until she gets going. We’ve set up all the shops the same way – Lori was great teaching us.

Featured Artist: Nikki Makes Scents

Standard

Nikki Makes Scents is “your one stop scent shopping place” and can be found on Etsy at nikkicandles.  Read more about her shop right here on PJEtsy’s blog.

How did you get started on Etsy?
I don’t really remember. I already had a website. I frequented my candle making forums and I think several new candlemakers started using Etsy instead of a website. I thought it would be a good way to market a few exclusive items I made at craft shows that don’t have a lot of. I opened an account in 2008 but didn’t add an item to sell on it until the middle of 2009. From there it was history. I love Etsy. I get just as much traffic.

What is your inspiration for your shop?
Although I have a few allergies I’m addicted to scents. One can wake up to a smell to put a smile on your face, remind one of happy times, love, and food and travel. Scents inspired me to work with them in candles and bath & body products almost 15 years ago because I couldn’t find what I was looking for in department stores.

What is your favorite item from your own shop and why?
For the fall season I love making the Crackling Firewood Octive 6pk. They smell divine (even unlit) and I love the colors.

CRACKLING FIREWOOD - Scented Chunk Octive Candle 6pk

How do you unwind when you’re not creating?   When I’m not creating I’m trying to think of ways to create or my boxer Zoe is looking at me with her sad eyes with a toy in her mouth for another trip to the dog park.

List 3 of your favorite Etsy shops.
www.etsy.com/shop/thameowdesigns?
www.etsy.com/shop/LaBellaCandela?
www.etsy.com/shop/dippylulu?

How would you describe your work style?
I’ve learned that if I rush I make mistakes so I give my customers realistic processing times. I put on some music or listen to a Netflix movie on my tablet (because I don’t have time to watch it) and before I know it 10 hours have gone by in my workshop. I like to work on one thing at a time if at all possible keep the area clear of clutter.

If you could choose any one superhero power, what would it be and why?
I don’t know if there is a superhero that grows extra arms but I can use extra hands that know what to do during the holiday and wedding seasons.

If you knew then what you know now, what would you do differently in opening your shop?   I probably would have put items on Etsy earlier.
